Harden-Bush Rubbermatch Open Thread

We have a day game today. The Brewers send Dave Bush (9-10, 4.24 ERA, 42 BB/103 SO) against the Cubs' Rich Harden (10-2, 2.04 ERA, 50 BB/170 SO). Bushie and the Crew will have their work cut out for them today. I think it's safe to call this, "the biggest start of Dave Bush's Career." Hopefully it will go better for him than it did for Ben Sheets last night, and hopefully the bats will stay alive. No line up yet, but we'll update when it's available.

Update (from Paul): Your Lineup (Now With Handedness!):

CF Mike Cameron - R
2B Ray Durham - S
LF Ryan Braun - R
1B Prince Fielder - L
SS J.J. Hardy - R
RF Corey Hart - R
3B Craig Counsell - L
C Jason Kendall - R
RHP Dave Bush - R

Nice job Clunger.

Who comes out to pitch the 12th? The Crew will send up Hardy, Hart and Counsell.

DannyNoonan said...

Whew. That was a close one.

What did Edmonds do to get thrown out?

Eric said...

course Kapler would have got that. Less dramatically too.

steveegg said...

Edmonds argued a pair of National League strikes. Of course, prior to that, the ump called a pair of NL balls.

steveegg said...

Wood again.

DannyNoonan said...

Now would be a good time for Corey Hart to heat up.

steveegg said...

It would be a very good time. Of course, it's more-likely he'll be bunting.

Eric said...

Let's here it for patience!

Huzzah!

DannyNoonan said...

Yeah JJ.

steveegg said...

Fuck Hart. He can't even get a bunt down.

DannyNoonan said...

Yes he can. I've seen him.

But why is he bunting?

PaulNoonan said...

I hate sac bunts.

steveegg said...

But we get a double on a huge gamble.

2nd and 3rd with nobody out.

Eric said...

Does that count as Clutch?

DannyNoonan said...

Hell Yeah Corey!

PaulNoonan said...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH!!!!

PaulNoonan said...

More stranded runners. FUCK!

PaulNoonan said...

steveegg said...

CV in.

DannyNoonan said...

Pinch runner Jason Marquis?

steveegg said...

Marquis made it to within 90 feet of home. It's 2 out though.

steveegg said...

FUCK!

DannyNoonan said...

Shit. What a waste of an afternoon.

steveegg said...

Afternoon, summer, season.

DannyNoonan said...

The gross thing is that now we have to root for them to go destroy the Mets.

steveegg said...

Time to drink heavily.

Eric said...

nice thread anyway

nail meet coffin

I've reflected on this loss. Had a manhattan. Part of another. These taste good. Gonna drink 12 more.

DannyNoonan said...

I don't think that's the nail in the coffin yet. I think taking 1 of 3 from the Cubs at Wrigley is fine. But need to take 5 of 6 from the Reds/Pirates now. And hopefully 2 of 3 from the resting Cubs at Miller Park. And hopefully the Cubs will beat up on the Mets.

E.S.K. said...

blowing the lead, that is some mental shit right there, and this team has already shown a complete inability to handle adversity

DannyNoonan said...

I think they've been strikes and gutters when it comes to handling adversity. Firstbasemen beating up starting pitcher = adversity = winning the next bunch of games, for example.

E.S.K. said...

that was blown out of proportion because it was in the dugout as opposed to the club house. I have it on good authority that Craig Counsell routinely gets in brawls behind the scenes.

Even still, that is energizing adversity, blowing a lead and losing in protracted humiliation against your bitter rival is deflating adversity.

DannyNoonan said...

Yeah, It's certainly not a good thing. Add to that that it taxed our pitching staff, and it looks pretty bad.

Still, GO BREWERS!

E.S.K. said...

yes, I can be down and still love the Crew.

I'm more disappointed that my trip to Cincy fell through this weekend.
