The Brett Favre Backup Club

Here's a cool article from the NY Times about the Brett Favre Backup Club.

Then there was the time when Favre, Brunell and Detmer went hunting in Wisconsin. Favre showed up in blue sweat pants and an orange hunting jacket. When Brunell noticed the shotgun in Favre’s hands, it made him nervous. While walking through the woods, they spotted a deer, and Detmer remembers Favre asking, “Is that a dog?”

"Hasselbeck often found Favre alone in the weight room, squatting 315 pounds."

Pfffft. Maybe on a Smith machine.

I wondered about that too. That's a lot to be squating for a normal person, and Favre never struck me as a particularly strong NFL player. But I guess that goes to show just how athletic these guys are.

He's no Pat Robertson.

that was a leg press dude

Leg pressing is for fags.

Favre’s current backup, Jets quarterback Kellen Clemens, said, “He does a good job of not being Brett Favre, if that makes any sense.”

That's pretty cool.

Leg pressing is for fags.

Nice, we have fans from Arkansas.

Leg pressing is pretty lame, but it's more for people with injuries. Or body builders.

I leg press when I do calves, because I like to combine a leg press with a calf raise and not waste time in between.

Surely if Pat Robertson can leg press 2100 pounds he can squat a mere 315.

E.S.K. said...

nah, he has an old and feeble core but the legs of Christ.

Do you think when Detmer and Brunell were armed and walking around the woods with Brett, they considered taking the starting job that easy way?

DannyNoonan said...

Favre would still start.

Plus when you're in that situation you always have to be on the lookout for Bobby Knight.

ESPN, a few years ago, had a story on Brett's backup quarterbacks. In particulr i remember Jim McMahon turning to face the camera and saying

"Brett, let me be clear. It's because of you i quit."

Really? I thought they got along.

McMahon wore his Bears jersey to the White House when he won a Superbowl with the Packers. I can't imagine that was cool with Favre.

As far as i know they did get along. I believe McMahon's point was that he was never going to play again behind Favre.
