Open Thread - If Only Suppan's Towel-Pillow Had Been A Little Harder

Sup faces Big Z. This is not a good matchup, though Zambrano has melted down once already this year, so who knows. Here's your lineup:

2B Weeks
CF Edmonds
LF Braun
1B Fielder
3B McGehee
RF Gerut
C Zaun
SS Escobar
RHP Suppan

Oddly, Gerut is playing in the corner for Hart while Edmonds takes center.

Let's avoid the sweep!

(Did that sound forced? It did, didn't it. Doesn't it feel like it should be Friday today?)

I just hope that when he does blow up Macha leaves Suppan out there for the whole game then refers all questions to Melvin.

20 mph wind, WSW. That's pretty much straight out to center, ainna?

E.S.K. said...

nice start!

DannyNoonan said...

Yeah Edmonds. Yeah Braun.

I dislike Macha more than Melvin. Although I guess I have imperfect information as to who's making what calls.

PaulNoonan said...

Sure is. Could be a big offensive day. Good start too.

Fielder's really scuffling (for him, anyway). I think that most "he's trying too hard" excuses are garbage, but I think it's often true of him in slumps.

PaulNoonan said...

Sweet, he's laboring and probably mad. Maybe he'll have a crazy Zambrano outing.

27 pitches.

And now, the much-debated, much-awaited 2010 debut of Soup.

PaulNoonan said...

There's the Suppan we all know and love. Good god.

E.S.K. said...

I like the predictability that Suppan offers.

PaulNoonan said...

It's kinda sad, but I feel lucky to have escaped an inning giving up "only" one run.

PaulNoonan said...

"Only" one again!

E.S.K. said...

Way to go McGehee!!

PaulNoonan said...

That's guy's on fire. And probably a few other things.

DannyNoonan said...

I know it's still early, but McGehee may in fact be a baller.

E.S.K. said...

holy shit, 1-2-3

tracker said...

Maybe. He still can't play 3b worth a shit.

Gregor said...

Has he been doing that bad?

E.S.K. said...

thank you Zambrano!

PaulNoonan said...

That was an excellent pitch...FOR ME TO SUPPAN!

E.S.K. said...

nice pitch Suppan

DannyNoonan said...

Had to get back to that 1 run per inning average.

E.S.K. said...

been saving that one, eh Paul?

PaulNoonan said...

Actually just thought of it. I like it though. I might make a t-shirt.

E.S.K. said...

so, what happened to Kottaras?

PaulNoonan said...

What do you mean?

Gregor said...

Yeah, he's hitting really well today.

Wait, that's Zaun? Holy moly....

PaulNoonan said...

Uecker has been especially off today, especially last inning. He called that Suppan drove in a run with the last out, and called it the end of the game, and got the score wrong. Maybe just out of sync because of the weird mound visits, but worse than normal.

E.S.K. said...

I mean I thought he would be playing more

PaulNoonan said...

A backup Brewer catcher playing more? That seems silly.

E.S.K. said...

Well at the beginning of the year Macha claimed it would be about a 70/30 split for the catchers.

E.S.K. said...

way to battle McGehee

E.S.K. said...

awesome

E.S.K. said...

why the fuck is Zaun green-lit on 3-0??!

PaulNoonan said...

If Soriano is playing LF, Weeks might have scored on that hit. Instead it's a single.

PaulNoonan said...

You don't tell a guy like Zaun what he can and can't do. he's a professional hitter. He can play every day.

Will someone take a frickin pitch 3-0. C'mon Edmonds.

E.S.K. said...

WEEKS!!

PaulNoonan said...

So you're swinging 3-0, but taking 3-2? Are you a moron?

E.S.K. said...

free swingin' and base stealin!!

Your sub-.500 Milwaukee Brewers

PaulNoonan said...

I really don't want to see Hoffman in this game. Even in his saves he's given up fly balls. Those will be homers today.

PaulNoonan said...

Wow. Not sure I've seen D-Lee booted before.

E.S.K. said...

Weird pitch to get tossed on.

E.S.K. said...

BOOOOOOOOM

PaulNoonan said...

And then we score without hitting one out of the infield.

And Fielder is turning into Weeks up there the way he gets plunked.

E.S.K. said...

Bullshit call by the ump on that play at the plate

something to watch, ESPN found a Brewer blogger to sell their soul

PaulNoonan said...

Will do.

E.S.K. said...

STOP LAUGHING HART YOU SON OF A BITCH!

PaulNoonan said...

Good lord. Can you see the game winning Ramirez homer coming up?

E.S.K. said...

I thought I saw it but I think I lost it in the sun

PaulNoonan said...

Yeah, that can happen. Ha ha.

E.S.K. said...

thank God Lee got himself tossed

PaulNoonan said...

No kidding. That was huge in retrospect.

E.S.K. said...

yep...gonna lose this one

PaulNoonan said...

Really? I mean, Really? Really? Really?

E.S.K. said...

may as well walk him and give up the game winner right away, I need to hit the gym

E.S.K. said...

thank Christ

PaulNoonan said...

I know we won...but I feel dirty.

E.S.K. said...

all in all, Hoffman looked damn good. That last ball was the only solid contact the Cubs made.

STOP LAUGHING HART, YOU ASS!

DannyNoonan said...

Hoffman sucks.

DannyNoonan said...

He didn't look good. He took like every count to full.

E.S.K. said...

were you watching or listening? The counts may have been full but he threw 75% strikes. The zone was minuscule. Also, he's not going to be pitching that often so I couldn't care less if it takes him 20 pitches to close every game as long as he keeps men off base.

E.S.K. said...

I didn't mean that to be accusatory Danny (as in, were you paying attention fool!), I meant could you see the pitches or did you have to rely on audio.

PaulNoonan said...

I'm guessing that due to MLB blackout restrictions, my brother was listening and not watching.

DannyNoonan said...

Yeah, I was just watching the game cast and listening.
