"Sticking it to Ted"

Ugh. This is now going to dominate the Wisconsin sports scene. Ted Thompson: bad guy.
After beating around the bush for a year about the circumstances surrounding his unretirement, Brett Favre finally told Peter King of Sports Illustrated what we all knew was the truth:

"Part of me coming back last year, I have to admit now, was sticking it to Ted (Thompson),'' he said in a rather startling admission.

That wasn't so hard now, was it?

Make no mistake, Thompson has now been branded forever as the guy that drove Favre away from the Packers -- by Favre himself, which will only throw gasoline on this forever raging inferno.

I don't care how it happened, in hindsight it was the right move for the Packers organization, and with each new interview my boy hood hero chips away at his once pristine visage. It's a God damn shame the way this is playing out.

The Favreophiles should take a look at the free agent quarterbacks that are out there they suck. Aaron Rogers would have actually been one of the top Free Agent Quarterbacks even if he had sat another year behind the Favre God. There was no guarentee that he would have stayed with Green Bay so we would be looking at signing Kyle Boller or Rex Grossman to be our QB

TT did the right thing for the long term health of the team

The Packers did an outstanding job of managing Brett's image over the years. There is plenty of evidence that he isn't quite the down home every-guy we've been led to believe. And we probably still haven't heard the worst about him. In (IIRC) the Green Bay Press Gazette in August or September, LeRoy Butler indicated that the worst hadn't even come out about Favre yet.

And yes, it is a God damn shame the way this is playing out.

Jib, your last sentence says it all...

I am a recovering Favreophile who thought that the decision was the wrong one. I do now agree that TT was right in his decision. But I have stated earlier that I think the way it was done was a hack job. A political debacle (was TT running John McCain's campaign?).

I'm sure it will only get worse, I just hope that Favre can forget enough to come and get his number retired sooner rather than later.
