how could Seattle let a star like RB gets away???????

$2 million plus incentives with a $5 million option for 2011. Turned out to be a very, very smart decision for him to wait it out.

He would have been a giant upgrade in RF for the crew.

Not at all. Our RF is worth 4 million and is therefore twice as good.

Interesting. Jack Zduriencik was the biggest Muscle fan boy in baseball and even he let him move on.

I think the conventional wisdom was that Russ would get a bigger deal than he ended up getting, and that's why the Mariners let him walk. I could be wrong though.

How many teams have taken a hit off the RB joint and than passed it on down.

RB is a dog who won't hunt he looks pretty but that is all.

I thought Russell would do better but given that his last two seasons have ended with a back injury, I'm not surprised.

Mariners did make a similar offer early, but that was after Kotchman was acquired and while Russell was still thinking 3-20. Still, how could such an already impotent team turn 1b over to Kotchman, when RB had come down to this price?

Maybe it was a acrimonious breakup.

His back was the reason Seattle didn't take a chance on him, is what I heard.

Claiming he "didn't hunt" last year (or in 2008 for that matter) is simply an unintelligent comment.

every year the team he was on decides to not take a chance on him how many years does this pattern have to keep going on before you Branyan lovers admit he is not the god you think he is

It's very odd that you determine the quality of this season based on the outcome of the off-season.
