Trial One in the "Replace Manny Parra/Dave Bush" experiment is Mike Burns. He'll get things going in about 30 minutes or so. He'll take on Scott Baker. Here's your lineup:
2B Craig Counsell
3B Casey McGehee
LF Ryan Braun
1B Prince Fielder
RF Corey Hart
CF Mike Cameron
SS JJ Hardy
C Jason Kendall
RHP Mike Burns
Enjoy the game. Go Crew!
Go Brewers! Go not-Manny-Parra!
ReplyDeleteStriking out Joe Mauer is impressive.
ReplyDeleteMade it through 1/2 an inning scoreless! More than Suppan usually does.
ReplyDeleteAnyone else had juuuuuust about enough of JJ Hardy?
ReplyDeleteWell, yeah. But whaddaya gonna do? Do the Sox still want him?
ReplyDeleteI have a great deal of patience with shortstops. It's weird he's been struggling this long.
ReplyDeleteLast year his LD% was 15.5%. This year his LD% is 15.5%. Last year hsi ground ball rate was 48.4%. This year it's down to 43.8%. He also never hits infield flies. But for some reason his home runs as a percentage of fly balls is WAY down (from 14% to 7.5%). It has not been even close to that low since his rookie season.
I still think he'll be OK, but the power thing is bizarre. I've literally never seen anything like it. Usually if your power suffers you'll either hit more into the ground or hit more flyballs on the infield, and he hasn't done either.
Hey, our manager noticed a reverse platoon split and adjusted to it. Neat!
ReplyDeleteI just looked, and Baker has had a normal platoon split over the course of his career, but this year he has faced nearly as many righties as lefties, and the difference is pretty stark. I wonder if it's just random or if he changed something.
ReplyDeleteBut he hasn't noticed Gamel's reverse split.
ReplyDeleteNice catch Tracker, although it's a pretty mild split anyway.
ReplyDeleteUh Oh. This is not good.
ReplyDeleteIt was Gamel's 1.465 vs lhp, .898 vs rhp in Nashville that caught my eye. He was reversed last year too, but not to that degree.
ReplyDeleteThey have minor league splits now? Sweet.

ReplyDeleteHow did you ever think to look there?
ReplyDeleteWell, at least the Cubs lost.
ReplyDeleteCards too.
ReplyDeleteCasey McGehee really has been very good.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm done doubting McGehee. I didn't expect any of this out of him.
ReplyDeleteWell this is a fun little inning.
ReplyDeleteMcGehee is kicking butt. And Prince has been hot too. Taking the top dog spot away from Braunny recently.
ReplyDeleteQ. What do you call it when the doctor checks for testicular cancer?
ReplyDeleteA. Denard Span.
I am stunned. At least everyone lost today.
ReplyDeleteAh, nuts.
