Ouch. This team is looking worse and worse (I think this actually means Tony Gwynn Jr will make the squad).
By the way Danny, fangraphs puts Hardy's worth at $25 million even last year. Not too shabby (even if James, CHONE and Marcel all see him back sliding in 09).

This gets me so mad. On what planet can Tony Gwynn Jr. hit ANY pitcher better than Kapler, regardless of which arm he throws with? Kapler for $1 Million is a steal.
ReplyDeleteI highly doubt that Kapler ever seriously considered returning to Milwaukee...although Melvin's boner for a "left handed bat" (regardless of quality apparently) might have played a factor.
ReplyDeleteA hard regression to the mean seems due for Kapler and therefore, I don't have a problem letting him go. His ops the last three seasons before his one-year retirement: 77. 65. 77. Then a year off and 117 all of a sudden, at age 32. That seems flukier than a stack of Bill Hall 2006 seasons.
ReplyDeleteHe'd have to regress to retarded to not be better than Gwynn.
