Playoff Open Thread: Game 1

I'm stuck at work, and worse yet, I have actual work to do. However, I'm sure at least a few of you are in the same situation, so when you have a free moment, drop your commentary here. I'll post lineups (both of them, with handedness thrown in) as soon as I find the Phil's. And, if you leave an especially good comment that contains interesting data or a fine point, I'll post it in this post as an update. If I have a moment to spare.

Let's win this puppy and support Yo! Go Brewers!

  1. Of course, if you just want to say "Go Brewers!", that's cool too.

  2. I'm trying to get the hell out of here in the next minute or so, but I'll be driving the first inning or so

  3. Ugh. Stuck in a depo in illinois and can't get gamecast to work.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Wow, that sucks.

    I'll post important updates here.

  5. Okay, I got the game up now. I sure picked the wrong state to have a deposition in today. There's absolutely no sense of urgency to wrap it up by 2.

  6. Ugh. Let me know if you need directions to a sports bar or anything.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Bad start. At least Cameron took some pitches.

  8. Yo.

I'll be interested to see how Fielder's at-bat proceeds due to Hamels reverse split. Specifically, I'm looking for good swings, contact, and, y'know, a home run.

  9. Lightning, eh? That's not good. I think a delay probably hurts us worse than they, since Yo is still fresh off injury, and it probably gets into our respective bullpens earlier.

  10. If you're looking for a reason to be optimistic about Corey Hart, his long swing sometimes helps him drill change-ups that fool those with quicker bats.

    Not this time though.

  11. Burrell has severe platoon splits as well, struggling against righties. He grounded into 10 double plays this year - all against right-handed pitching.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Walking Howard every time might not be the worst strategy really.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Oh Rickie.

I'm really starting to regret this lineup, both for defensive inadequacy, and for not realizing that the lefty squad would be better against Hamels, who's dealing today.

  14. Anybody no what ch xm has the game? In a rental car in Kentucky, can't find game, need to know if when to say Fuck

    ReplyDelete
  15. all right. Chase with Ducks on the pond. Big moment here.

    ReplyDelete
  16. 188 I think tracker, in that area anyway, it's on a few channels

    ReplyDelete
  17. how was that scored a double??

    ReplyDelete
  18. two errors absolutely KILLING Gallardo's pitch count.

Gonna need big innings from McClung

  19. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK

    ReplyDelete
  20. Bill Hall, Rickie Weeks, Mike Cameron...this shit is on you

    ReplyDelete
  21. hey, way to keep it in your glove fuck stick

    ReplyDelete
  22. i'm absolutely baffled how a ball can literally bounce out of a guys glove and it's ruled a double

    ReplyDelete
  23. Official scorers are stupid morons. Keep that in mind.

Honestly, how hard was it to realize that lefties hit Hamels better than righties? Do managers really not check stuff like that?

    ReplyDelete
  24. one of the color guys commented on it. Said that even if the numbers say it, it's tough to believe.

    Fucking retards

    ReplyDelete
  25. What does that even mean? Do they believe that David Copperfield actually walks around stabbing leaotard-clad women?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hamels is now half way to a perfect game.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Sweet. I have the power to jinx the Phils. He hasn't given up a HR yet either.

    ReplyDelete
  28. i will be turning every light of my house on and idling my car during that inning

    ReplyDelete
  29. Because he's a righty, and righties always hit lefties better. Everyone knows that. Duh.

    ReplyDelete
  30. this game may get a bit uglier now

    ReplyDelete
  31. fifth inning double switch?

    interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Quite. Did someone just point outthe platoon thing, because Rickie is gone from this puppy.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hey, a lefty got a hit. Who could have predicted that?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Alright, if Billy can avoid a DP we'll get Braun up with ducks on the pond. I like that alot.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Well, he didn't ground into a DP.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Aaaaaand he gets Braun. Never mind.

    ReplyDelete
  37. when the best thing your number 2 hitter can do is k you're in trouble

    ReplyDelete
  38. I don't know what they think they're doing today. Their approach is bad, their plan is bad, and despite all of that, if they just played average defense it might still be 0-0. What a wasted opportunity this game has been.

    ReplyDelete
  39. completely. Alrhough villy looks great

    ReplyDelete
  40. tony gwynn???

    Where the fuck am I?

    ReplyDelete
  41. This is just pathetic. What a terrible offensive display.

    ReplyDelete
  42. 8th inning, down 3 runs in the playoffs. The Brewers trot out Tony Gwynn Jr, Jason Kendall, and Craig Counsell.

    What a joke

    ReplyDelete
  43. All we have to do is hope that Brad Lidge's brain explodes.

    ReplyDelete
  44. time to send Lidge back to the looney bin

    ReplyDelete
  45. It'd be cooler if Branyan were batting now.

    ReplyDelete
  46. remember this inning, could be huge getting Lidge to throw so many piotches

    ReplyDelete
  47. Stupid Hall, Weeks, and Cameron. Could have had this one.

    ReplyDelete
  48. But, of course, Bill Hall and Rickie Weeks are terrible defensive players, so when they play terrible defensively, that is to be expected.
