In another must-win, in another short rest start, CC Sabathia takes the mound against the Bucs and left-hander Paul Maholm (9-8, 3.68ERA, 137K/57BB). The line-up is.... shall we say.... weird:
CF Mike Cameron
3B Bill Hall
LF Ryan Braun
1B Prince Fielder
SS J.J. Hardy
RF Corey Hart
2B Rickie Weeks
C Jason Kendall
LHP CC Sabathia
Bill Hall and Mike Cameron are the first two batters, but as Tom H notes, they're batting .609 and .667 against Maholm. That's in 23 and 15 at-bats too, so hopefully the trend will continue.
Meanwhile, the Cubs play the Mets at Shea. The match-up is Zambrano (14-6, 3.77, 128K/68BB) against Perez (10-7, 4.10ERA, 168K/97BB).
Go Brewers!
And go... Cubs... *shiver*.
Cubs are phoning it in
ReplyDeleteThey're up 1-0
ReplyDeleteZ is in trouble.
ReplyDeleteShit. Walked one in.
ReplyDeleteDamn it Z. He's gonna walk in another one. Why does he have to suck when we need him to be good?
ReplyDeleteGrand Slam Mets. FUCK!

ReplyDeleteGood news; Cubs tied it back up.
ReplyDeleteCan someone tell me what the fuck Suppan is doing starting Friday instead of tomorrow?
Bad; the Pirates got to CC.
ReplyDeleteDamage limited to 1 though.
ReplyDeleteWonder when the bats will wake up. The second trip through the order better not be the same as the hitless first.
Cubs tied it up, but cc looks overworked.
ReplyDeleteI'm in a dive bar in north eastern california.
Dive bars are good.
ReplyDeleteFuck. You can't sac bunt right to somebody crashing in.
ReplyDeletePhillies are getting destroyed. That could still matter.
ReplyDeleteNice to see a 1-2-3 for cc
ReplyDeleteTie game. Fielder stays hot.
ReplyDeleteGood news; bases juiced. Bad news; 1-man rally-killer up.
ReplyDeleteNice to see the towels at Miller Park.
ReplyDeleteAbout time Weeks started to take pitches. This time, it gives the Crew a lead.
ReplyDeleteSomebody teach Sabathia the power of letting a wild pitcher keep on throwing, please?
ReplyDeleteStill, I'll take 3-1 Crew.
Got the lead. Nice.
ReplyDeleteThis bar is awesome, even though I'm the only person here wearing a shirt with buttons.
Well, there's one other one, but it isn't buttoned.
ReplyDeleteBill hall is bad
ReplyDeleteGallardo starting tomorrow
ReplyDeleteCubs just took the lead!
ReplyDeleteLee just made a great play that may save some runs.

Hardly phoning it in wouldn't you say
I don't know, they tried pretty hard to lose. But you're right. They pulled it off in a tough situation. That takes effort.
ReplyDeleteYes, if only I could have seen the future when I said the Cubs were phoning it in (they went down 5-1 immediately after I posted that by the way)
