Day Baseball

These are the best work days. Cole Hamels goes for the Phils. Last year, if memory serves, he had a reverse platoon split. Just something to keep in mind. He'll be opposed by David Bush. Will the Brewers win a series? Finally? We'll know shortly.

Go Crew!

  1. I don't like stealing in front of Braun and Fielder. You know. Because it's stupid.

Here are the top 5 nicknames that thyme with "Monster."

    1. Braunster.
    2. LeBronster
    3. Ramonster (for Ramon Sessions, of course)
    4. Wangster (for a certain Yankee pitcher)
    5. Ronster Villonster.

  2. Especially given that Fielder has homered twice in 15 PAs vs. Hamels

  3. I think the Brewers' win probability graph just spiked.

  4. Go Brewers! I'm sitting in the Detroit airport listening to a Scottsman talking about his solo world beer-tasting tour. Dude has drank beer in like 50 countries on 5 continents. He may be my hero.

  10. Brian Anderson's fault. He's been yammering about it since the 5th.

  11. Matt effing Stairs? Geesh.

Hard to be upset about a road series win against the Phillies however with Braun and Fielder coming alive.

We were following this on gameday at work and someone noted he started the 8th inning with 97 pitches already. We were all wondering if he would run out of gas before the finish line. I know he's the rubber arm kind and all but he was looking at a 130-140 pitch game if he actually finished it.

Awesome win today. Hard to be upset about the no-no.

  12. Yup. And Matt Stairs is actually pretty good, by the way.

  13. I don't know if Stairs is "pretty good" but he'd probably be an upgrade over our lh-fat guy-pinch hitter.

  14. Matt Stairs, who has been around since 1992, by the way, has a career OPS+ of 118, and has in the past put up a 153, a couple of 130+s, and a 142. His career line is .266/.358/.556. He's put up an OBP over .350 8 times in his career, by my count.

The only knock on him right now is that he's really really old, but his recent seasons have still been quite productive.

It is a crime that more teams could not find a place for Matt Stairs.

  16. You're right. Should be .484. I can't even find a .556 that I could have mistranscribed.
