Brewers-Reds/Packers-Vikings Open Thread

What to watch, what to watch.... Wisconsin sports fans have a few options for our viewing pleasure tonight.

First. the Packers take on the Vikings in their first game of the season. Will the Aaron Rodgers era begin on a high note or will be left wishing we could have a QB that could lead us to a victory over the might Dolphins from Miami? Will the defense be able to stop Adrian Peterson? Which of these two teams will end the night at the team to beat in the NFC North? Only time will tell.

Secondly, the Brewers take on the Reds in the first game of a three game series at Miller Park. The pitching match-up is Dave Bush (9-10, 4.33 ERA, 38 BB/96 SO) against Edinson Volquez (16-5, 3.12 ERA, 77 BB/174 SO). Here's the line-up so far:

2B Ray Durham
SS J.J. Hardy
LF Ryan Braun
1B Prince Fielder
RF Corey Hart
CF ?????????
3B Craig Counsell
C Jason Kendall
RHP Dave Bush

I never thought I'd be happy to see Craig Counsell starting, but Bill Hall is that bad. I'm not sure about the whole mystery center fielder concept either, but as long as it's Kapler or Cameron, we'll get some production. If only Kapler, or Braun, could play third.

Go Brewers! And Packers!

  2. Yes, you should have. Although I didn't list the game times so you would still be stuck watching football while you waited for the start of baseball.

I do think that it's always a good rule of thumb that you check here first though.

  11. Is the line of scrimmage a different color this year?

  12. Nice. Brauny with a stolen base. Runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out.

  13. Interesting. We haven't had a rushing QB in a while.

  14. One of these announcers really wants to fight me.

  15. That's not a good way to end the half.

  16. Reds tie it up. Hart's arm kind of sucks. I wonder if he can play third base?

  17. Jason F-ing Kendel clouts a 2-run dinger. WTF?

  18. Hey E, where did you go? You just leave one comment and never come back?

  19. TD Packers! The leap needs a little work though.

  20. sticking with Jackson is going to ruin all the potential of the Vikings line and excellent defensive front.

    Awesome.

  21. Agreed. I have Jackson on one of my FF teams. I hope I never have to use him.

  22. The $50,000 to the MACC fund really is nice, and Gagne may well have done a lot for the community, but we gave him $10 Million and he sucks. He should give, like, almost all of it to worthy causes.

  23. Maybe he could buy us a relief pitcher?

  25. too many fucking flags to make this game enjoyable

    ReplyDelete
  26. C'mon Grant, get in the endzone for FF's sake.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yeah, the flags have been ridiculous. But 12 men on the field seems like one you gotta call.

    ReplyDelete
  28. nice of the packers offensive line to call that time out. Jesus Christ

  29. Roger's completion percentage is 81% right now.

  30. Atari with the pick! But yeah, he should have just went down. Game over. Nice game Pack, despite the flags. Nice game Rodgers!

  31. Aw Christ. We're going to let these scrubs beat us now?

  33. Sorry I'm late. Compy trouble. The Packer game was awesome. Except for penalties, but that will get better when the line gets healthy. Too bad the Brewers just fucked up.
